Happy New Year, CISV family and friends!
I hope you enjoyed a lovely holiday and spent time celebrating the start of the new year. While 2021 isn’t off to the smooth start that many of us had hoped for, I hope each of you are feeling the renewed sense of hope and energy that a new year can bring.
As we say an enthusiastic goodbye to 2020, I think it is important to look at the actions of CISV as an organization during this unprecedented time. CISV was devastated when we realized we would not be able to hold our beloved international programs for two consecutive summers. Instead of turning inward, our organization turned immediately to the question at hand: how will we continue the work of CISV?
Not surprisingly, when a call to action was sent out, CISV USA not only answered this call, but rose to and above expectations. Attached is the “CISV USA 2020 End of Year Update,” which highlights all of the accomplishments and efforts made collectively by the National Office and the CISV USA Board of Directors and its committees.
It is our hope that this will provoke positive, joyous thoughts surrounding our organization and its capabilities, especially in response to a less than ideal situation. May this also further ignite the fire within your hearts to continue the CISV USA mission throughout this new year!
Wishing you all the best in 2021!
2021 Covid Update

JB Cincinnati Updates
Jeopardy and Candy Tasting
We’re going to be doing another activity soon! This activity has a lot of different parts, so read the following carefully.
International Candy Tasting
Our Jeopardy activity will also be a candy tasting event. Here’s how to take part in this part of the activity:
Use Venmo to send $5 to @mary-herrington-5 (please add the participant’s name in the description)
The JB Board buys international candy in bulk and separates them into individual bags for everyone.
Pick up your bag at TBD. This will be announced over Remind. If you aren’t signed up for Remind, see below.
Bring your candy to the activity.
Jeopardy – 7:30 pm, February 6th
We’re going to play JB Jeopardy online on February 6th while enjoying your delicious candy. This activity will take place on Discord.
Letter Writing Service Project
In addition to the activity taking place we are also excited to share our first service project of the year! We invite the JB members to write at least 3 cards offering words of encouragement for older adults struggling during the pandemic. When you pick up your candy for the Jeopardy activity you can drop off your cards so we can deliver them together to United Way of Cincinnati who are in charge of this project! We hope you are as excited for this opportunity to give back as we are and hope you participate!
JB Board and JLJRs
We are so excited to announce our new JLJRs and Board Members who are helping run the Cincinnati JB this year! So, big congratulations to our JLJRs ALexandra Purdy and Mia Gorman and our new board members Isaac Basset and Hayden Arthur! With their help we will be able to make virtual CISV amazing as possible and keep the CISV spirit alive.
