While our adult board took a break from our monthly meeting in March, our Junior Branch Board has been very busy with virtual activities, service projects, and more.
Thank you to our Junior Branch Board members James Dawson, Sarah Herrington, Mia Gorman, Alexandra Purdy, Hayden Arthur, and Isaac Bassett for the leadership they have shown and continue to show throughout this most unusual time.
Please enjoy this update from James and Sarah, our Local Junior Representatives:
February was a wonderful month for JB! We began with an online game of Jeopardy and international candy-tasting night. At the same time, we collected letters of encouragement for seniors struggling during COVID-19. Although this was a small service project, it was amazing to still have this part of JB even during quarantine. We also had a penpal email exchange with over 80 CISVers from around the world! Participants answered a set of questions, were matched with a penpal, and anonymously sent emails back and forth for two weeks. At the end, we ran a Speed Camping activity over Zoom with all of the participants, in which we held a CISV camp in 90 minutes! The Penpal Activity and final Speed Camping Activity were a huge success, largely due to the work of our JLJRs, Mia and Alexandra, who created and ran the activity over the two weeks! February concluded with the announcement of a T-Shirt Design Contest for the JB. March is just beginning, and we’re so excited to do more with JB soon!
We are so proud of our Junior Branch Board!
The adult board will meet again in April, and will hold a chapter meeting in May. All are welcome!
